Generators of Greenhouse Gases 

 Sources of greenhouse gases grouped into five categories: 

• Transportation is the biggest. Perhaps electric vehicles will reduce this number, over time. Hydrogen is still on the list. Local policies to reduce trips with mixed use centers and walkable systems work. Reduced trip lengths are important. Increased bike/ped systems help…all locally controlled. 
• Electricity generation is second. Energy conservation programs and increased use of renewable energy sources can be influenced by local residents, governments and businesses. 
• Industrial greenhouse gas emissions primarily come from burning fossil fuels for energy. Greenhouse gas emissions from certain chemical reactions are necessary to produce goods from raw materials. Conversion of local industries to renewable energy sources works.
